Crochet Pattern Question

Can anyone answer a question I have about the “Round Center Rug” or “Mandala Panorama” crochet patterns?

OK… first off—the pattern is great and I hadn’t had any problems with it—UNTIL NOW! 
Everything went smoothly up to Round 17,
then I repeated Rounds 11 through 15 as instructed and continued with Round 18.
Everything went really smoothly; every round worked out, everything was perfect.
I’ve now finished Round 20 as well. And since it’s been emphasized twice here in bold that there should now be 240 stitches, I counted them.
I definitely only have 220 stitches!
But I’m absolutely sure there are no mistakes!
This isn’t about possible slip-ups or anything like that where you’d quickly find one or two stitches that went wrong.
Everything looks good, correct, and neat… and it involves a perfectly even number of 20 stitches!
So here’s my question: Is your statement about 240 stitches correct?
If so, where could my mistake be that 20 stitches are missing?
And then my next question—since the work I’ve done so far definitely appears to be error-free, can I continue with the 220 stitches, or will the next pattern not work out otherwise?
I’m really stumped as to what could be causing this dilemma…
