man liest öfter mal "Baumwolle gekämmt, mercerisiert und gasiert". Was ist damit gemeint?

Meines Wissens nach stammt der Ausdruck "gasieren" noch aus früheren Zeiten wo abstehende Härchen bei der Wolle mit Hilfe von Gasbrennern abgeflammt wurden. Heute gibt es hierfür schon modernere Verfahren. Mercerisieren ist ein chemischer Prozess dem die Baumwolle unterzogen wird um einen glänzenden Effekt zu erhalten. Baumwolle ist ja von natur ein eher mattes Garn.
