Free Pattern for Baby Dress

MATERIAL

ca 150 gr Schachenmayr Catania ,100% cotton, 136 yds/50gr, Sport Weight/5ply, crochet hook 3 mm, US 2½ - 3 double-pointed or circular needles, 3 buttons.

INSTRUCTIONS

BODIC

Row 1: Chain 70 stitches, sc in each of next 69 sts, turn.

Row 2: chain 3, dc in the same st as chain and each of next 68 sc, turn.

Row 3: ch 5 (counts as 1dc and ch2), skip next st, *dc in next st, ch 2, skip next st*, repeat from* to* till the end of row, turn.

Row 4: ch 3, dc in the same st as chain, * 2 dc in next chain-2 space, dc in next dc*, repeat from * to* till the end of row, turn.

Row 5:  dc in each of next dc till the end of row, turn.

Row 6-11: repeat rows 3, 4 and 5 twice (=240 sts).

Row 12: sc in each of next 36 sts (left front), skip 48 sts (armhole), sc in each of next 72 sts (back), skip 48 sts (armhole), sc in each of next 36 sts (right front), turn.

Row 13: ch 1, sc in the same st as chain, *skip next 2 sc, 5 dc shell in next sc, skip 2 sc, sc in next sc*, repeat from* to* till the end of row, turn.

Row 14: ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch 2), dc in the same sc as ch, *ch 4, skip shell, 2 dc separated by 2 ch stitches in next sc*, repeat from* to*, turn.

Work in rounds:

ch1 (=1 sc), sc in each of next st till the end of Rnd.

SKIRT

Right side facing pick up sts (1 st out of every st) with the help of crochet hook and work 1 round in ks.

ASSEMBLY

Around neckline work one row in sc.

Along front edges of the dress work one row in dc´s making holes for buttons (chain3, skip 2 stitches, sc in each of next stitches till the next hole).

Sew buttons on the dress.  Weave in all ends.
