Teddy Carlos knitting pattern

Carlos is all love and understanding. He will be your trusted travel compagnion, he will be a comforter in troubled times and the one with whom to share secrets and happy moments. You see, there is no way out of knitting him and his friend, the little bee …

Have fun knitting Carlos and Bee

You get a detailed step-for-step instruction for the bear and the bee with a shipload of charts ans photos. He should be manageable for beginners with some patience who want to learn more about their new hobby.
PLEASE MIND: Carlos is knitted in the ROUND, there is no instruction for flat knitting!

These techniques you have to know already:

  • cast on
  • knit and purl
  • knit in the round with double pointed needles
  • cast off

These techniques are explained in the appendix:

  • increases
  • decreases
  • sewing and embroidery stitches
  • and a few more ...

Knit as tight as possible, so the stuffing will not show. A good gauge with the original yarn would be
27 stitches x 38 rows = 10 x 10 cm = 4 x 4 inches
Of course you can use any yarn you want (or you have left over). Carlos will be bigger or smaller depending on the yarn. With the gauge shown above Carlos measures approximately 40 cm = 16 inches from head to toe.

The material you need:

  • Original yarn from German factory Lana Grossa: Lana Grossa Cool Wool Merino Superfein (100 % Merino, 175 yards (160 m) per 1.76 ounces (50 g) ) in DARK BROWN, YELLOW, BRIGHT YELLOW, BLUE and bright brown. Substitute with any yarn in Sport / 5 ply (12 wpi).
  • Embroidery thread in black
  • 4 black halfbeads ø 8 – 10 mm
  • Thin felt in bright brown and WHITE, matching sewing thread
  • Strong felt, approx 2 or 3 mm thickness,
  • approx 5 x 3 inches (12 x 7 cm)
  • Set of size 2 US (2,5 mm, 12 UK) or size 3 US (3 mm, 12 UK) double pointed needles, depending an how tight you knit
  • Embroidery needle, sewing needle, darning needle
  • 4 safety pins or stitch holders, polyester stuffing, scissors, glue
