Mara’s MountainScarf is a voluminous, softly draping scarf featuring a textured lace pattern including garter stitch ribs and delicate eyelet rows. The rhythmic design evokes mountain landscapes, giving the piece depth and movement. Despite its intricate appearance, the scarf is surprisingly relaxing to knit. A cozy, feel-good project perfect for snuggling.
You start at the left corner of one of the short edges and increase stitches on both sides until one side reaches your desired scarf width. Once the width is achieved, simultaneous increases and decreases keep the stitch count constant while maintaining the diagonal knitting direction.
You continue knitting the scarf to your preferred length and finish it with decreases on both sides at the opposite, right corner of the other short edge.
The pattern is for advanced knitters.
Techniques used:
The size of the scarf is customizable.
Yarn
You can use any yarn you like. In the example, I used 400 m | 437.5 yds of “Los Andes” by Pascuali (approx. 100 m | 109 yds = 100 g).
