Depending on the yarn you use, you can make potholders, a dishcloth or a soft washcloth. You will find different yarn suggestions below.

The potholder / washcloth is worked in the double knitting technique. How you get two different sides, so that the sheep appear from the front on the front side and from behind on the back side, is explained in the patttern.

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

  • double knitting in general
  • invisible cast on / bind off (you will find the links to a helpful video tutorial in the pattern)
  • basic skills in crocheting (chain stitch, sling stitch, single crochet, reverse single stitch) for the border and handle

You will get four separate pdf documents:

Gauge of 23 stitches x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4“ x 4“) with Schachenmayr Catania; size of the potholder approx. 22 x 22 cm

Gauge of 25 stitches x 37 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4“ x 4“) with Schachenmayr Baby Smiles Cotton Bamboo; size of the washcloth approx. 20 x 20 cm

Please note: If you have a different gauge, the size of the finished product will be different, too!

Materials List

  • For potholders: cotton with 125 m / 50gr (e.g. Schachenmayr Catania), approx. 50-60 gr each in two different colours, for a pair of potholders; approx. 10 gr for the border and handle
  • For thick potholders: cotton with 80 m / 50 gr (e.g. Lang Yarns Tissa), approx. 80-100 gr each in two different colours, for a pair of potholders; approx. 15 gr for the border and handle
  • For a dishcloth or washcloth: cotton with 155 m / 50 gr (e.g. Schachenmayr Organic Cotton), approx. 25-30 gr each in two different colours; approx. 5 gr for the border and handle
  • For an extra soft washcloth: cotton bamboo with 155 m / 50 gr (e.g. Schachenmayr Baby Smiles Cotton Bamboo), approx. 25-30 gr each in two different colours; approx. 5 gr for the border and handle
  • Circular needle 2,5 mm (US 1 ½) and an additional circular needle (2,5 mm or 3 mm); or two circular needles appropriate for the yarn you use
  • Crochet hook 3 mm
  • Darning needle

Traumhafte Babydecke

Wunderschön und sehr aussergewöhnlich
Ich habe die Anleitung gesehen und war sofort begeistert. Obwohl ich noch nie Dobleface gestrickt habe wollte ich diesen Schal haben! Ich habe zuerst mit den Topflappen geprobt und als dad ganz gut funktionierte habe ich mit dem Schal begonnen am Anfang ging's langsam, es wurde einige Mal "rückwärts" gestrickt. Aber jetzt läuft's. Mehr als die Hälfte ist gestrickt und ich plane schon die passende Mütze. Passende Stulpen habe ich mir bestellt. Das wird mega. Ich stricke gern für andere, aber nicht dieses Projekt. Das ist so zeitaufwendig und anspruchsvoll. Das Set mache ich nur für mich.😊Vielen, vielen Dank für diese einzigartigen, wunderschönen Vorlagen. Habe mir die Vorlage für die Mütze auch schon gekauft. Nun hoffe ich, dass die Wolle reicht. Die schwarze Wolle gibt's nämlich leider nicht mehr. 🤷‍♀️

Super Einstieg ins Doubleface Stricken
Sehr tolle Anleitung, vielen lieben Dank dafür. Ich habe vorher noch nie Doubleface gestrickt, aber die Anleitung enthält auch die Grundlagen zum Doubleface und damit kann ich es nun auch. Die ersten 5 Reihen vom Schal sind mittlerweile auch fertig und das Ergebnis sieht schon ganz toll aus. Ich freue mich schon drauf, den Schall nun Stück für Stück wachsen zu sehen 🥰
