An individually adaptable pattern for a versatile knitted poncho-cardigan, designed by Birgit Freyer.

Casual, wide and comfortable like a poncho, having sleeves like a cardigan: The PonchoCardigan is knitted in different directions and fascinates with it special construction, which showcases the colourways of variegated yarns perfectly. All parts are knitted together, so there's almost no sewing at the end! The pattern contains charts.
It can be adapted to individual measurements and can be worked in any size - even for toddlers and children.

The original sample shown in the picture has been made of Schoppel Zauberball Crazy. The original yarn can be substituted by any variegated yarn in a similar weight.

Please note: This pattern contains detailed instructions about the construction and shaping, as well as charts for the ridges and eyelet rows. The distribution of the ridges and eyelet rows is up to your choice. On the last page of the pattern, you will find detailed examples.

  • working from charts
  • reading schematic drawings
  • basic stitches: selvedge stitches, knit, purl, yarn over, increases and decreases (explained in the pattern)
  • knitting in rows and in the round

Notions: measuring tape, stitch markers, contrasting thread (or additional cables from interchangeable needle systems) to place stitches on hold, scissors, needle for sewing in threads.
