Chicken Egg Cosy Holder Easter Spring

Surprise your guests at the lunch table with some cute chicken egg holders like these.

This PDF pattern describes in US terminology how to crochet an egg holder as shown in pictures, made using 5 ply / sport weight cotton yarn and crochet hook C (2.5 mm).
Finished size will be approx. 2.75” (7 cm) tall. This pattern is also suitable for wool or acrylic yarn. SMC Catania Solids was used to create the egg holder in the pictures.

Note: Made using thicker yarn and matching size hook you could create a larger version of this chicken, resulting in a little basket. See pictures.
The chicken basket in picture can hold up to 5 or 6 eggs and was made of 3 strands of acrylic yarn (8 ply / DK) held together and crochet hook size J (6 mm). 3 Different colors of yarn have been used to create a speckled look.
