Marthe Mitts were inspired by a friend, who wanted to have something to warm her hands while playing the cello in cold churches. The pattern is reminiscent of gothic church windows.
The pattern is only worked on the top of the mitts, with the thumb offset slightly to the inside for increased comfort.

Sizes (hand circumference)
Yarn:
Lanartus Sofia (100% Merino, 350 yds/320m per 100g) or similar sport weight yarn with matching gauge
Yardage: 160 - 175 yards / 146 - 160 m
Gauge: 28 sts and 36 rows = 4" [10 cm] in stockinette stitch with needle size US size 2 ½ (3.0 mm)
