Paule Reindeer knitting pattern

Paule the reindeer looks a little sad because he is too small to be harnessed to Santa‘s sleigh. So it is a great comfort to him that he will soon be waiting under the Christmas tree for his new human friend. By the way, Paule likes biscuits and gingerbread best – that‘s where his pretty round belly comes from.

You get two sets of step-by-step instructions. Both patterns are detailed, with special attention to knitting the antlers. They are much easier than you might expect!

One pattern is for knitting in the round – perfect for the more advanced knitters.
One pattern is for knitting flat in rows – this might be more suitable for adventurous beginners.

I recommend you have a close look on the pattern befor printing – it's very likely you will not need to print all pages.

Paule measures 45 cm from the tip of the antlers to the hooves using the recommended yarn below - the ideal snuggle size. Knitted with thicker yarn he will be even bigger, knitted with thinner, e.g. sock yarn, he will be smaller.

Knit as tight as possible, so the stuffing will not show.
A good gauge for the yarn mentioned above would be
27 stitches x 38 rows = 10 x 10 cm = 4 x 4 inches

• Original Yarn: Lana Grossa Cool Wool Merino Superfein (100 % Merino wool, 175 yards (160 m) per 1.76 ounces (50 g)) 1 skein each in LIGHT BROWN, RED, GREEN and OFF WHITE, leftover in NOSE COLOUR
• For the shawl I used kid mohair, but any leftover yarn from your stash will do
• 2 black halfbeads or safety eyes, Ø approx 10 mm, small piece of white felt, sewing thread in white
• double pointed needles size 3 US (3 mm, 12 UK)
