Lille the Monkey, knitting pattern

Lille is very excited to meet new kids for playing und cuddling! The little monkey girl is the cheerful heroine of Anna Karina Birkenstocks charming books „Lille und Löwe“, and I am rather proud that I managed to capture her friendly character into a knitting pattern :-)

PLEASE MIND: The animal is knitted in the ROUND, there is no instruction for flat knitting!

Lille is a fun knit for advanced beginners, and the seasoned ones, of course! The pattern will lead you step-by-step through the knitting and sewing, including loads of photo tutorials for the more complicated parts.

The following techniques you should know already:

• cast on
• knit and purl
• knit in the round with double pointed needles
• bind off
• crochet chains

With the yarn mentioned and the gauge shown below Lille measures approx 23 cm = 9 inches.

• Lana Grossa Cool Wool Merino Superfein (100 % Merino wool, 175 yards (160 m) per 1.76 ounces (50 g)) 1 skein each in BROWN and BRIGHT PINK (it should be a rosy or nude hue)
• Cotton jersey for neckerchief and hat, approx 60 x 20 cm = 24 x 8 inches, matching sewing thread
• 2 black beads or safety eyes, ø approx 5 – 8 mm, BLACK twine
• Set of size 3 US (3 mm, 12 UK) double pointed needles
• Embroidery needle, sewing needle, darning needle, small safety pin
• Wadding – I used polyester fluffs as is used for cushion stuffing
