PATTERN: Baby Selbu Mittens - knitting

Product description

This pattern has three designs to choose between, all inspired by traditional Noregian Selbu motifs. The mitten will be approx. size 3-6 months, and the two mittens are held together by an i-cord. The pattern has written instructions as well as charts, and there are pictures and explanations of the different techniques used.
There are no thumbs on these mittens.

The working method described in the pattern, is bottom up on dpns, but magic loop would also work.

NOTE:
This version include both an English and a Norwegian version.

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

This pattern requires basic increases and decreases (k2tog, SSK, and SK2P). The mittens' hands are knit from chart.

Size Information

Size: 3-6 months. The finished measurements are 14.5 cm (5.7”) total length; the hand 8.5 cm (3.3”) from tip to cuff, and the cuff 6 cm (2.4”). Hand circumference is 13 cm (5.1”).

Materials List

  • Yarn: Sport/baby/fine weight wool yarn (175 metres per 50 grams).
    MC (white): (A) 10 gr – (B) 12 gr – (C) 10 gr
    CC: (A) 5 gr – (B) 3 gr – (C) 5 gr
    I–cord: approx. 5 grams
    Used in examples: Sisu by Sandnes Garn
  • 2.0 mm dpns (or size needed to achieve gauge)
  • Darning needle

Maschenprobe: 36 Maschen und 36 Runden pro 10 cm
