Crochet a Mini Ghost – Free Halloween Keychain Pattern

For Halloween, I wanted to make something small that is really quick to crochet but still looks cute. This little mini ghost is what I came up with.

It only takes a few rounds, uses hardly any yarn and works perfectly as a keychain or bag charm. So it is exactly the kind of project you can make in between larger projects – or simply crochet several of them.

Materials

You will need:

• white yarn, for example Himalaya Dolphin Baby, or another color of your choice

• a suitable crochet hook

• a small amount of stuffing

• black yarn for the eyes and, if you like, pink yarn for the cheeks

• yarn needle

• optional keyring or small carabiner

Abbreviations

• sc = single crochet

• hdc = half double crochet

• sl st = slip stitch

• BO3 = 3-dc bobble stitch

When several stitches are written with a +, all of these stitches are worked into the same stitch.

For example, sc + hdc means that you work one single crochet and one half double crochet into the same stitch.

Crochet Pattern

The ghost is worked in continuous rounds.

R1: 6 sc

R2: 12 sc

R3–4: 2 rounds sc (12)

R5: BO3, 5 sc, BO3, 5 sc (18)

R6–7: 2 rounds sc (18)

The two bobble stitches in round 5 form the little arms of the ghost.

Now embroider the eyes above the arms, leaving about 2 stitches between them. If you like, you can also add small cheeks or lower eyelids.

Lightly stuff the ghost and flatten the opening.

Now work 1 sc so that you are level with the arm.

Now crochet both sides together:

R8: (sc + hdc, sc + sl st) × 3

The different stitch heights create the slightly wavy edge at the bottom.

Fasten off and weave in the ends – and that is already it.

If you want to use the ghost as a keychain or bag charm, simply attach a keyring, a small carabiner or crochet a small loop at the top.
