SUPPLIES YOU NEED

Here is what you will need for this project: 

ca 20 gr cotton yarn (e.g. Schachenmayr Catania 125m/50g) in the following colors: beige, brown, dark brown and dark green or any color you choose, for this project you will need one size hook only - crochet hook C, scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers and a bit of polyester fiberfill stuffing.

SKILL LEVEL

I would classify this free crochet pattern as an advanced beginner. It is necessary to have some experience with crocheting before creating this project.

SIZE  

The ready booties fit 12-14 inches doll, can be made bigger or smaller depending on the yarn and hook you use.

SKILLS YOU NEED

chain, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, slip stitch, increase, decrease

ABBREVIATIONS

Ch =chain

St = stitch

Sc = single crochet

Sl st = slip stitch

dec = decrease stitch (two single crochets together)

inc = increase stitch (two single crochets in the one stitch)

Dc = double crochet

Hdc = half double crochet

Tc = triple crochet

Rnd = Round

* = repeat the instructions for the times indicated

(...) = total amount of stitches

TIPS

• Do not join rounds, work in a continuous spiral.
• Use a stitch marker or piece of yarn to keep track of the last stitch in each round
• All stitches are worked into both loops, unless stated otherwise in the pattern.
• When filling with polyester stuffing, pull apart each large chunk into many smaller chunks. This ensures an even distribution of firmness within the amigurumi
• Booties can be made in any desired colors.

Seamless way of changing color when working in the round

Pick up the new color at the end of the round: inset your hook into the stitch, yarn over the new color and pull through the stitch and the loop on your hook to complete the stitch.

While I’ve used a different color in the sole of the bootie, you could ignore the instructions to change colors and make your booties in a solid color, if you wish.

To make a magic ring

1. Loop the thread twice around your middle finger
2. Put the hook under both loops, pull the yarn under the loops and hook the thread again
3. Pull the thread through the new loop. The first crochet stitch is ready!
4. Repeat the number of times needed.
5. Pull the inner threads to tighten the ring.

Back Post Single Crochet:

Starting from the back of the work, insert hook from back to front, continue across the post, and insert hook from front to back, yarn over, draw the yarn forward, around the post, and through to the back of the work, yarn over and draw the yarn through the two loops on the hook.

REVERSE SINGLE CROCHETS

Reverse single crochet, also known as crab stitch, makes a twisted cord edging and is worked in the opposite direction to usual. For the normal single crochet you work from the right to left, so for the reverse single crochet you work from left to right:

chain 1 stitch, insert hook into first stitch on the right, grab the yarn and pull up a loop, there are now 2 loops on hook. Yarn over, pull through all the loops on the hook, repeat these steps into each stitch around.

INSTRUCTIONS

This design for crocheted doll booties is one of my favorites. They are pretty easy to make and to customize. 

BOOTIE

I´ve divided these instructions into a few smaller sections. We start off by making a crochet sole.

SOLE

You need two, for each shoe one.

Take yarn in a main color (beige or any color you wish) and start with a foundation chain of 9 stitches.

Round 1: single crochet into the second chain from hook and each of next 6 stitches, 3 single crochets in the next stitch, working in other side of the foundation chain: single crochet in each of next 6 stitches, 2 single crochets in the next stitch.

Round 2: 2 single crochets in the next stitch, single crochet in each of next 6 stitches, 2 double crochets in each of next 3 stitches, single crochet in each of next 6 stitches, 2 single crochets in each of next 2 stitches.

Round 3: single crochet in the next stitch, 2 single crochets in the next stitch, single crochet in each of next 2 stitches, hdc in each of next 4 stitches, 2 double crochet in each of next 6 stitches, hdc in each of next 4 stitches, single crochet in each of next 2 stitches, *single crochet in the next stitch, 2 single crochets in the next stitch* twice (33 stitches).

BOOTIE 

Now we continue with the upper part. Continue working with the same yarn color.

Round 4: back post single crochet worked into each of the next stitch around.

Rounds 5-7: single crochet in each of next stitch around.

TOE

Continue crocheting with the same yarn color.

Round 8: single crochet in each of next 6 stitches, *decrease, single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from* to* 5 times, single crochet in each of next 12 stitches (28 stitches).

Round 9: single crochet in each of next 6 stitches, *decrease* 5 times, single crochet in each of next 12 stitches, slip stitch (23 stitches)

You can finish off here for a shoe, or you make the boots: after the round 9 continue working around in single crochets to make the leg as tall as you like.

You can also add strap to your booties: chain 6-7 stitches and slip stitch to the opposite side of shoe.

Left and right shoes are identical, so when you finish the first one, repeat all the steps for the second one.

TONGUE

Crochet with beige or any color of yarn you wish.

Row 1: single crochet in each of next 3 stitches, increase, single crochet in each of next 3 stitches, increase, chain 1 stitch, turn the work

Rows 2-4: single crochet in each of next 7 stitches, chain 1 stitch, turn the work

Row 5: decrease, single crochet in each of next 3 stitches, decrease, chain 1 stitch, turn the work

Row 6: decrease, single crochet in the next stitch, decrease.

Fasten off.

CUFF

Change the color of yarn

Round 1: chain 19 stitches, single crochet into the second chain from hook and each of next 17 stitches, chain 1 stitch, turn the work

Rounds 2-4: single crochet in each of next 18 stitches, chain 1 stitch, turn the work

Round 5: increase, single crochet in each of next 16 stitches, increase, chain 1 stitch, turn the work

Round 6: single crochet in each of next 20 stitches, chain 1 stitch, turn the work

Round 7: increase, single crochet in each of next 18 stitches, increase, chain 1 stitch, turn the work

Round 8: single crochet in each of next 22 stitches.

Fasten off.

CUPULA

Crochet with dark brown or any color of yarn you wish.

Round 1: chain 2 stitches, 6 single crochets in the second stitch from the hook.

Round 2: single crochet in each of next 6 stitches.

ACORN

Change the color of yarn

Crochet with brown or any color of yarn you wish.

Round 3 (working in the back loop): single crochet in each of next 6 stitches.

Round 4: *decrease* 3 times.

Fasten off. Hide all yarn ends.

ASSEMBLY

Around the sole work one row in single crochets or reverse single crochets.

Sew cuff to the booties. Hide all yarn ends.

Lace your booties: chain stitches, make a small knot on one side of the chain, put a shoe in front of you with the toe facing away from you, insert the end of the shoelace from the inside. Make sure both sides of the remaining laces are equal. Make a bow.

Sew acorns. Weave in all ends.
