Baby Broccoli

Materials:
- Yarn of your choice (acrylic or cotton). Colours: light green and dark green. 
I used cotton yarn, 350 m/100 g. Broccoli's height is 11 cm.
- A crochet hook, I used 1,25 mm crochet hook
- Hollow fiber for stuffing
- A piece of wire approx. 1,0 mm thick and 25 cm long 
- For the eyes: 2 half-beads, I used 6mm diam half-beads 
- Transparent glue
- A sewing needle
- Dry soft pastels or any other suitable means for tinting (pink)

Abbreviations:
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
inc – increase (2 sc in 1 st)
dec – decrease (single crochet two stitches together)
(...) x N times – repeat instructions in brackets N times

Arm (make 2)
Work with light green colour yarn.
1) 6 sc in a Magic Ring

Legs (make 2)
Work with light green colour yarn.

Add some hollow fiber.
8) left leg: 9 sc, 1 sl st. Fasten off, cut off. Mark the 6th loop.

Body
Stuff as you go.
9) work into loops of the right leg: 1 sc, 4 ch, work into loops of the left leg, start from the loop with a marker on: 10 sc, continue along the chain: 4 sc, work into loops of the right leg: 9 sc (24+4 ch)

10) 1 sc, along the other side of the chain: inc х 4 times, continue: 2 sc, (inc, 1 sc)х 2 times, inc, 2 sc, inc х 2 times, (3 sc in 1 loop)х 2 times, inc х 2 times, 2 sc, (inc, 1 sc)х 3 times (46)

Crochet every remaining rounds into the back loops only.

Leave the tail of the thread about 20 cm, cut off. Do not close the hole and do not add filler! Otherwise, it will be inconvenient to crochet the side sprigs.

Side sprigs (make 5) 
Stuff lightly as you go.
Attach the thread at point A. Crochet in a round.
1) 1 sc into point А, 8 sc into previously skipped loops  (9)

2) 9 sc
3) 2 sc, (1 sc, inc)х 3 times, 1 sc (12)
4-5) into the back loops only 12 sc
6) into the back loops only (skip 1 loop, 1 sc)х 6 times (6)
7) into the back loops only (skip 1 loop, 1 sc)х 3 times (3)
Fasten off, cut off. 

Now go back to the central sprig. Add some hollow fibre. 
Finish the crochet as follows:
42) into the back loops only (skip 1 loop, 1 sc)х 6 times (6)
43) into the back loops only (skip 1 loop, 1 sc)х 3 times (3)
Fasten off, cut off.

Work sc around the sprigs with dark-green colour yarn. Start with the central one.
Fasten the thread in the middle, work 3 ch. Insert the hook into the half-loop and work: (1 dc, 2 ch)х3 times. Continue anti clockwise in a spiral, work into every half-loop (1 dc, 2 ch)х3 times. See the pictures for guidance.
You may work into every loop  (1 dc, 2 ch)х2 times – control and make it as frequently and dense as you like. 

Work around the side sprigs using the same technique. 

Glue the eyes on. Embroider the smile and eyebrows.
Lightly brown the cheeks.
