Free Knitting Pattern for Raspberry Baby Hat

Special Stitches:

Puff Stitch

1. Yo, insert hook in next st, yo, pull loop through st and make loop the same height as previous sts in working Rnd.

2. *Yo, insert hook into the same st, yo, pull loop through st and make loop same height as working row* five times.

3. Yo, pull through all loops on hook.

4. Yo, pull through two left loops on hook.

INSTRUCTIONS

HAT

Rnd 1: Chain 4 stitches. 11 dc in the second chain, sl st to the top of ch. (12 stitches).

Rnd 2: ch3, dc in the same st as ch, 2 dc in each of next 11 st, sl st to top of ch 3 (24 stitches).

Rnd 3: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st*, repeat from*to* till the end of Rnd, sl st to top of ch 3 (36 stitches).

Rnd 4: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch and each of next 2 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 2 st*, repeat from*to* till the end of Rnd, sl st to top of ch 3 (48 stitches).

Rnd 5: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch and each of next 3 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 3 st*, repeat from*to* till the end of Rnd, sl st to top of ch 3 (60 stitches).

Rnd 6: ch 3, dc in each of next 60 sts.

Rnd 7: ch 3, dc in the same st as ch, dc in each of next 4 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in each of next 4 st*, repeat from*to* till the end of Rnd, sl st to top of ch 3 (72 stitches)

Rnd 8: ch 3, puff stitch in next st, *ch1, skip 1 st, puff stitch in next st*, repeat from*to* till the end of Rnd, sl st to top of ch 3.

Rnd 9: ch 4, skip next puff , *puff stitch in next st, ch1, skip next puff*,

repeat from*to* till the end of Rnd, sl st to the 3rd stitch of chain.

STEM

Rnd 1: Chain 2 stitches, 10 sc in the second ch from hook.

Row 2-5: sc in each of next 10 sts.

Row 6: scfp in each of next 10 sts, sl st.

Row 7: ch 3, 2 dc in each of next 10 sts, sl st.

*Ch 9,

sc in second ch from hook, hdc in each of next 2 sts, dc in each of next 2 sts, tr in each of next 3 sts,

skip next 2 sts, sl st in next 2 sts*,

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing stem to hat.

FINISHING

Sew stem to hat. All around hat crochet one Rnd in crab stitch (reverse single crochet). Weave in all ends.
