Beanie “Shanti” (cable braid pattern, all sizes)

A warm ‘Shanti’ hat with a cable pattern for the whole family (knitted look)! The hat can also be crocheted hanging down if you crochet the niddle part approx. 5 cm longer than for the sporty hat. The PDF crochet pattern consists of illustrated tutorial for crocheting a winter hat with the cable braid pattern. The hat looks like it has been knitted. This hat can be crocheted for both children and adults.

Tip: If you want a warmer hat, crochet a cuff that is folded upwards. To do this, cast on twice as many stitches as indicated in the pattern.

I have created a video with an explanation of the cable braid pattern. Although the video was made for a different pattern, the principle of crocheting is the same. Crocheting the cable braid pattern is much easier with this video.

Note for the sl. st: This beanie is partly crocheted with the sl. st. Crocheting with the sl. st, crocheted either in the back loops only or in the front loops only, requires a little practice. Before you start crocheting, practice with an old thick wool (wool scraps). After a few exercises, crocheting with the sl. st will work very quickly. Otherwise: crochet very loosely, take the crochet hook 0.5 to 1 size larger than recommended for your wool. How to crochet the sl st is explained in the video.

The size (according to the head circumference) is adjusted in the course of crocheting the lower cuff. The height of the hat is specified for adults and children in the pattern.
