The pattern is written in English, using American crochet terminology, and includes US/UK conversion charts for both stitches and hook sizes.
It is full of hints, tips and photos that help you along the way.
For beginners instructions of basic crochet stitches are provided.

The body and head are crocheted in one piece starting from the feet up to the head. Only ears, muzzle and nostrils are sewed on.

Difficulty Level: advanced beginner.
Skills required are sl st, sc, hdc, dc, color change and increase/decrease sts.

Finished Size: if done with Sport / 5ply yarn, 2.5mm hook, it is 20 cm (7.8”) high w/o ears and 9.5cm (3.7”) wide w/o arms. This may vary depending on the yarn and hook size you decide to use.

Cotton Yarn Sport / 5ply / Fine. Usage based
on 1 Ball = 50g/1.75oz 125m/137y.
Hippo: approx. 70g (2.5oz) beige and
approx. 7g (0.2oz) pale yellow
Mouth and eyebrows: small quantity of
