The basic caps are crocheted exclusively with the needle size 6. The applications are made for the most part with the needle size 5 and sewn onto the cap.

I finally just finished the attached owl hat pattern and wanted to comment on it.
This was a very confusing pattern to followed. The instructions were all over the place and you had to keep going back and forth throughout the pattern to get the next step. In one part it gave the short form for instructions but the explanation wasn’t included in the glossary of stitches, etc. You didn’t find out until several steps later what the short form meant. There was also a mistake where it gave the wrong stitch.
Despite this, I fought my way through and finished it. If the original pattern was in a different language, then this was a poor translation.
I wanted to send my comments and would love to know if anyone else had problems with this pattern or if it was just me.
