Sommerkarl No. 7 The Strappy Top

Product description

Sommerkarl No. 7 is a sophisticated strappy top featuring a simple lace pattern and knitted in a slightly A-line shape.

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

Although it may look complicated, patchwork knitting is usually quite easy. You only need to work knit and purl stitches and simple decreases.

The pattern includes lots of pictures and detailed instructions for each individual patch. Some previous experience with patchwork knitting is helpful, but definitely not essential. If you have knitted one of my “Karl” designs before, you will have no trouble following this pattern. If you already have some knitting experience, you should also find it easy to follow.

If you are still a beginner, my advice is simple: just follow the instructions word for word without overthinking it – and it will work!

Skills you should know:

Knit and purl stitches
Cast on additional stitches
Knit stitches together
Weave in ends
Crochet single crochet stitches for the finishing edge

I have made two short videos showing how to cast on additional stitches and how to weave in ends. You can find them on YouTube on my channel “Littlecherry strickt.”

Size Information

Instructions for 2 sizes:
Size 38/40: width at waistband level (as shown in the photo above) approx. 48 cm
Size 42/44: width at waistband level (as shown in the photo above) approx. 54 cm
The length is adjustable. If you would like the top to be longer, either make the black lower border wider or add another row of patches. If you add a patch row, allow one extra ball of each yarn.

Materials List

Knitted using 150 g/200 g Soul organic cotton from Garnmanufaktur (yardage 180 m/50 g) in black and
2 cones (50 g each; yardage 200 m/50 g) of silk yarn with mini sequins, rose red, from Temu.

Of course, you can use any other yarn with a comparable yardage.

Skills required:
knit and purl stitches
use the knitted cast-on and pick up stitches
work stitches together, both normally and through the back loop
Tools:
3 mm circular knitting needle, 60 cm long
stitch marker (a locking marker, safety pin or paper clip)

Dear knitter
Many hours of work went into this knitting pattern. It was created with time, skill, patience and a not inconsiderable amount of coffee, and is protected by copyright.

Making unauthorised copies, passing the pattern on or 'just quickly sending it to someone' is prohibited. Anyone who does so may henceforth
• never have the correct stitch count
• constantly have to unravel their knitting
• find ravenous moths in their yarn basket
• lose stitches without noticing
• continually pull yarn barf straight from the ball, and
• end up with nothing but yarn full of knots

My thanks go to all honest and fair knitters who respect and support creative work by purchasing this pattern.

Without you, patterns like this would not exist. May
• your stitches and patterns always be even
• your projects fit perfectly
• your yarn always last to the very final stitch, and
• you never lose your love of our wonderful craft

With love
Andrea Kirsch
