"Be your inner light" serves as an encouragement to view oneself as a source of energy. Rather than relying on external strength, validation, or recognition, this pattern serves as a reminder that you carry an incredible energy within yourself.
While designing these socks, I was going through a very emotional time and used knitting as both a sanctuary of calm and a source of strength.
This is the fourth design in my "Just Be You" series.
Design Details
A delicate lace pattern combines with a cable pattern to create a harmonious sock design.
The pattern is calculated so that, regardless of the size, you finish the chart exactly as shown in the sample. However, this requires an accurate gauge.
The lace pattern involves working the pattern in certain rounds, so it requires your full attention—at least at the beginning and for those new to lace knitting.
Construction
These socks are knitted from the cuff down to the toe.
After knitting the leg to the desired length, the heel flap is worked. The French heel is created using short rows. Next, stitches are picked up along the heel flap, and the stitch count is subsequently reduced via a gusset.
The toe is a blunt toe tip that is closed using the kitchener stitch.
Socks can be knitted in various ways: using double-pointed needles, CraSy Trios, very short circular needles, the Magic Loop method, etc. This pattern is written for use with double-pointed needles. You are, of course, free to use your preferred technique.
