Double knitting pattern placemat "Berlin"

The young couple is on a weekend trip again – this time they visit the cool capital Berlin!
Walking through the Brandenburger Tor is a must. Also the Reichstagsgebäude is worth a visit. And of course, the TV tower is omnipresent. This design is a real eyecatcher on the dinner table, not only for fans of the German capital. And it is really fascinating to watch the picture develop while knitting… 😊

This unique placemat is knitted in the double knitting technique. Thus, it has two good looking sides and you can use it both ways.

Feel free to use the motif for any project you like - maybe for a pillow case? I'm looking forward to hearing from your ideas!

In this placemat series there are also the double knitting patterns for the placemats "London", "Paris" and "Venetia" available in my store:

Techniques used:

  • double knitting in rows
  • invisible cast on and bind off (you will find links to free video tutorials for these methods in the pattern)

You will get two separate pdf documents:

  • general instructions on how to knit the placemat
  • knitting chart

skills level: advanced

With a gauge of 25 stitches x 40 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4“ x 4“), size of the finished placemat is approx. 44 cm x 30 cm

Please note: If you have a different gauge, the size of the finished product will be different, too.

  • Schachenmayr Baby Smiles Cotton Bamboo (156 m / 50 gr) Pistazie (light green) and Nostalgie (red), approx. 60-70 gr per colour (for one placemat)

Alternatively you can use yarn with similar yarn weight. Please try to meet the gauge as exactly as possible. Choose two colours with high contrast

    Tolle Motive
