Pattern: Square Cardigan *DonnaRocco*

An individually adaptable pattern for a multicoloured knitted square cardigan in the *DonnaRocco* style, designed by Birgit Freyer.

This cardigan is a special eyecatcher due to its extraordinary shape. What’s so special about this cardigan is that length and width are proportional to each other. In a bigger size, approximately from size 50 upwards, the cardigan is more like a coat.

The combination of different patterns and colours keeps the knitting process interesting, and creates a result worth seeing.

For the square cardigan *DonnaRocco*, you can use a cheerful mix of 3 to 5 different colours or stick to one colour completely.

All *DonnaRocco* style patterns have something in common: The change of colours and patterns is accompanied by a characteristic set of garter stitch ridges. Also, all the patterns are variable. For the square cardigan, you only need to take two measurements: the width of the back, and then length of the sleeves.

Yarn: sock yarn or other fingering weight - yarn with a yardage of approx. 400 m (440 yd) per 100 g, in 3 to 5 colours
Yardage: a total of 1500 m (1640 yd) - colour 1: 700 m (770 yd), colour 2: 450 m (492 yd), colour 3: 350 m (383 yd) - for size 42/44 (M/L) with 3 colours
Needle size: 4.0 to 5.0 mm (US size 6 to 8, UK size 8 to 6), double-pointed needles, circular needles in different lenghts, matching crochet hook
Notions: measuring tape, scissors, needle for sewing in threads, stitch markers (optional).
