IMPORTANT: You are buying a PDF pattern, NOT the finished item.
The pattern is written in full in English and in German (one PDF per language).
Crochet pattern for a giraffe, about 20 cm / 8 inches tall – legs, body, neck and head are worked in one single piece. An instant-download PDF, written in full in English and German.
What makes this giraffe special is the way it is built: the four legs are started separately and then joined – from there the work continues without a break across the belly, up the long neck and into the head. So the very joints where amigurumi usually goes crooked never have to be sewn at all.
Only the small pieces are sewn on: muzzle, ears, horns, tail and the spots in two sizes. The original is medium blue with brown spots, hooves and little horns – pick different colours and you get a classic giraffe just as easily.
Legs, body, neck and head with no seams – worked in one piece
About 8 inches tall
Explained round by round, with the stitch count at the end of each round
Step-by-step photos
Bilingual: the complete pattern in English AND German
PDF for instant download and printing
Photo note: The crocheted item is real and made by me. On some photos the background was AI-generated or digitally edited.
If you run into any trouble or something is unclear, please send me a message first – I am happy to help. After that I would be very glad about a review.
You need: chain, single crochet, slip stitch, magic circle, half double crochet, double crochet, triple crochet, increasing and decreasing, skipping and doubling stitches.
Joining the four legs is explained step by step and shown in photos – you do not need to know that technique beforehand to start this giraffe.
The finished giraffe is about 20 cm / 8 inches tall.
Gauge: 26 stitches × 24 rows = 10 × 10 cm / 4 × 4 inches (Schachenmayr Catania)
I used Schachenmayr Catania.
