The Dog Posting a Letter Tea Cosy knitting pattern is not another Christmas tea cosy design, it has a longer apeal because its a dog in a wintery landscape, so it could still be on your teapot right into spring.

To give the feeling of a snowy day, the main part of the tea cosy is knitted with a touch of Hayfield Bonus Glitter DK Icicle to add a glitter, frosted effect.

The little postbox is super cute and also has a snowy top. The detailing on the front of the box is intarsia worked from a chart. It is only a very small amount and could easily be swiss darned on if you prefer.

To keep the postbox upright, it's strengthened with a sheet of thin craft foam on the inside. But you could also use a plastic bottle.

The dog is a sweetie and could be knitted in any colour. He has the letter in his mouth which could be a Christmas card or a Happy New Year card perhaps?

It's a lovely tea cosy to make, with interesting rows and textures in the snow and its charming watching the dog come together.

What skills are you going to need and what will you get

You need to be able to knit a small amount of intarsia from a chart for the front of the postbox.

There is also a part of the pattern where you leave loops hanging down on the right side of the work and then knit under them in a later row, but there are photos to show you how to do this and it is only two parts of the main cosy.

33g Hayfield Bonus DK White,
2g Hayfield Bonus DK Black,
6g Hayfield Bonus DK Signal Red,
6g Hayfield Bonus DK Oatmeal,
22g Hayfield Bonus Glitter DK Icicle,
1 sheet of Red Funky Foam or recycled plastic bottle could be used,
X3 5mm black beads,
Stuffing.
