Wild Life (XXL) CACTUS MIGUEL (EN)

Kaktus Miguel was a bonus pattern of the „WILD LIFE XXL“ Special of the facebook group „Häkelspaß mit den Häkelweibern“ This special was a collaborative CAL of 4 designers, where 4 different and independently created wild animals were presented. There were also Monkey Charly, Panda Kai Tao, Lion Lennart and Koala Karl.

With this PDF you will get the pattern for the (XXL) cactus Miguel on a knoll or a flat underground. You get a detailed description for the beige sombrero with the red stripe and a short description for the other two sombreros.

You can crochet the cactus in each size you want, so you can use the yarn you like. In this pattern there are given the informations for the small and the XXL cactus.

The PDF-pattern consists of 20 pages and has 50 colored pictures.

It is available in German (DE) and English (EN) and also in Dutch (NL).

Stitches (US-terminology):

slip stitch, (turning) chain, single crochet, (half) double crochet

Techniques:

Magic Ring; crochet on chains; increase/decrease of stitches; crochet in continuous (oval) rounds, closed rounds and rows; crochet in 1 loop only; Color change; fasten off; weave in ends

Level of difficulty: easy

With the stated yarn and crochet hook the finished figure with hat is in XXL approx. 50 cm and in small approx. 30 cm tall.

The size also depends on how tight or loose you crochet. If you use another yarn as stated, you have to match the size of your crochet hook accordingly to the yarn size and also the amount of yarn balls, whereby the size can also vary.

I used Gründl King Cotton yarn and a 4 mm crochet hook for the XXL variant.

Materials for XXL

• Gründl King Cotton (LL 78 m/50 g): 5x grass green (09), 3x sand (03), 1x turquoise green (12), 2x mocca (04), 1x white (01), 1x black (19), 1x red (06)
• 1 pair of 24 mm safety eyes
• 3mm to 4 mm crochet hook

For the small version I used Schachenmayr Catania yarn and a 2 mm crochet hook

Materials for SMALL

• Fine weight cotton yarn (LL 125 m/50 g): 3x moss, 2x marone, 2x sand, 1x black, 1x green, remnants in white and red
• 1 pair of 16 mm safety eyes
• 2 mm to 2,5 mm crochet hook

Following materials are needed for both variants:

• aluminum wire and iron wire, Ø 2 mm (if wanted)
• Fiberfill
• solid cardboard and 1-2 loo rolls
• stitch marker or sth. similar
• hot glue
• sewing needle, Scissors, pins
• pebbles or sth. similar to weigh down (for the knoll)
