Wild Life XXL - MONKEY CHARLY (EN)

Monkey Charly was a part of the „WILD LIFE XXL“ Special.
This special was a collaborative CAL of 4 designers, where 4 different and independently created wild animals were presented. There were also Panda Kai Tao, Lion Lennart and Koala Karl.

With this PDF you will get the pattern for the monkey Charly and his bananas.

The PDF-pattern consists of 24 pages and has 60 colored pictures.

It is available in German (DE), English (EN) and Dutch (NL).

Stitches (US-terminology):

slip stitch, (turning) chain, single crochet, (half) double crochet

Techniques:

Magic Ring; crochet on chains; increase/decrease of stitches; crochet in continuous (oval) rounds, closed rounds and rows; crochet in 1 loop only; Color change; fasten off; weave in ends; the forming of eyeholes, bellybutton and mouth (the explanation is in the pattern)

Level of difficulty: easy - intermediate.

With the stated yarn and crochet hook the finished figure is approx. 42 cm tall.

The size also depends on how tight or loose you crochet. If you use another yarn as stated, you have to match the size of your crochet hook accordingly to the yarn size and also the amount of yarn balls, whereby the size can also vary.

I used Gründl King Cotton yarn and a 4 mm crochet hook.

Materiallist

• Worsted weight cotton/acrylic yarn (LL 78 m/50 g): 7x brown (04), 3x beige (03), 2x yellow (10), 1x creme (02)
• 1 pair bronze 24 mm safety eyes
• Fiberfill
• Crochet hook 3,5 - 4,0
• stitch marker or sth. similar
• Hot glue
• sewing needle, scissors, pins
• 5 pipe cleaner (if desired)
• 2x 20 cm, 2x 30 cm aluminum wire (if desired)
• white felt 6 x 3 cm

Alternatively you can use Schachenmayr Catania yarn and a 2 - 2,5 mm crochet hook:

• Fine weight cotton yarn (LL 125 m/50 g): 3(-4)x brown, 1-2x beige, 1x yellow, 1x creme
• Don’t forget to adjust the size of the safety eyes when using thinner yarn. I recommend 16 mm or 18 mm safety eyes.
