Lace Scarf Knitting Pattern "Emmentaler Scarf"

Product description

There are those little round holes in it, just like in the tasty Swiss cheese. Those that weigh so little.

Other than that, this is a very easy to knit scarf which can be made out of a variety of yarns. The instructions are for the use of fingering weight yarn. Options for using other yarns are in the pattern.

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

The pattern is written and includes a chart. A photo tutorial shows how to work the special stitch used to create the holes.

Difficulty level: Advanced beginner (the most difficult part is to make stitches from a gap that is several rows below).

  • k: knit
  • p: purl
  • sl: slip
  • BO: bind off
  • di: double increase: insert right hand needle into the gap created by binding off 3 rows below, lift the three strands up to your left hand needle. These strands will be your next stitch. Purl 1, knit 1 into these strands. (See tutorial).

Gauge: 21 stitches/32 rows in pattern = 10cm/4in.

Size Information

160 x 20cm (64 x 8in). This is just a suggestion, the scarf can be worked to any size.

Materials List

Yarn: Four Seasoons Gründl Hot Socks Print (75% wool, 25% nylon; 210m/50g; 230yds/1.76oz), 2 balls. Sample used 391m (428yds).

Needles: 3.5mm/US 4

Notions: yarn needle

okay
