Violet Shawl with Grey Border
A cozy crochet triangle shawl in violet, framed by a wide grey lace border of clusters, fans and little picots. Worked in rows from the point, with photos for the first rows.
This shawl lay unfinished for ages. The violet lace body was done, but something was missing – until I added the grey border and the whole shawl changed. It is the one so many of you have been waiting for.
Why you’ll love it
• A lacy body of shells and V-stitches – the rows repeat, so it grows into a relaxing, almost meditative project
• A wide grey lace border that turns a simple triangle into something special
• You decide the size: the body grows by two shells with every row, and the pattern shows you how to keep going (mine has 42 rows)
• Photos for Rows 1 to 8 of the body, plus photos of the grey border
• Stitch counts, helpful hints and all special stitches explained step by step: tr3tog, V-stitch, shell, cluster and picot
• 22-page PDF
Finished size
approx. 180 cm (71") long × 75 cm (29.5") wide, including the grey border.
Want it bigger? Simply add more rows – the border then needs to be adjusted in numbers.
Yarn
Stylecraft Special DK, 100% acrylic, 100 g / 295 m: Violet 1277 (approx. 3.5 balls) and Silver 1203 (approx. 1.5 balls) – around 5 balls in total (estimated).
You can chose any yarn you like to use for this shawl. Just make sure to use the correct hook size !
You also need
4 mm hook · tapestry needle · scissors · stitch markers
Skill level: easy. You should know chains, slip stitches, single, half double, double, treble and double treble crochet. Clusters, tr3tog and picots may be new to you, but they are easy to learn and explained step by step.
Languages: English (US terms) and German
