At the very beginning of the written instructions, things were left out (like crocheting 12 dc in the ch5 space), I depended heavily on the illustrations, although even there, clear instruction was lacking, especially on the part regarding the tail feathers. As I finished each piece, I re-wrote the instructions so on the next shawl, I won't have to scratch my head. The shawl itself is beautiful, and I am figuring it out. I guess the German or Dutch version is better explained since so many said those instructions were clear.

Maybe it's just the English version, but the directions seem to be missing key details - like the number of double crochets in certain spots. If you do some detective work throughout the whole thing, you can figure out how many to do, but it seems like things were cut off the page in the formatting or something. The second and third pages, in particular, are just so much trouble. And really the 4th page too - it's inconsistent in whether stitches are done into the chain-4-space, or into the chains themselves. The pattern references certain things that repeat at the beginning/end of rows, but then sometimes reiterates to do one but not the other in a row. Does this mean you should not do the same thing at the end as at the beginning? Is this row an exception? The choice is yours, in this adventure of a pattern! The pictures are somewhat helpful, but at the beginning it's white yarn on a white background. I mean that literally. The pattern itself is beautiful, and I'm looking forward to the long, arduous journey to put together what the pattern-maker means.

i have started this three times and i just dont get it it isnt turning out like the picture at all something is wrong or missing ... the pictures are also hard to follow at points. love the pattern picture but hate the results.

Some directions are missing. No reply back from pattern writer. Would really like the up dated version.

English version is terribly written. Thank goodness for the photos! Petra would benefit from some English testers/translators. This is a paid pattern, one expects complete instructions. If you can figure it out and fill in the gaps it is a very cool design.

The pattern itself is simple and pretty easy, though the written instructions lack information about rows and have a number of typos that make it difficult to follow. If you really study the photos (though some are cut off from the page), you can make it through. And the end result is thus far worth it.

After nearly 6 hours of trying, failing, frogging, and trying again, I am about to give up. I have never seen such a vague pattern before. None of it makes sense; especially the end of the body. Most of it I was able to just guess and make work based on the few photos given but overall, not satisfied.

Terribly written pattern. Not all instructions are there. Will never buy from this seller again.

When I first seen the picture of owl shawl I thought that is beautiful I am going to buy the pattern and make it.. I have been crocheting for 45 years, I have come across some bad written patterns and some beautiful written patterns, this one falls in bad, the instructions in some places are difficult to follow, missing some instructions, pictures half cut off, I vowed I would never buy pattern from whoever wrote this, again..time is too short to spend hours trying ti figure out what they mean, pattern was NOT free, paid for pattern so one would expect the instructions to be pretty clear..maybe it is only english version if that is case, kind of wrong to mess up instructions on english version and take peoples money, but om dutch version apparently instructions are perfect..
