Crochet pattern lock & key rattle

Crochet toys are well suited for babys. Because of their softness they do no harm, they don't break if falling down and can be machine washed for hygienic purpose. The lock & key rattle can be used for various activities as grasping, feeling, hearing and watching to train motor activity and sensory abilities. This tutorial will accompany you step by step to receive a nice toy for your baby. Many pictures will help you to understand the production process. The rattle consists of three parts that can be used separately also.

This tutorial does not include crochet basics, but requires some experience. The following techniques are used: magic ring, chain stitch, slip stitch, double crochet, crochet in rows and rounds, sewing (crochet terms in British English!).

If you use cotton yarn with a yardage of about 280y/3.5oz (125m/50g) and a hook size 3, the ring will get a diameter of 7 cm, the key will become 13 cm long.
