Crocheting warm house socks in a knitted look is no problem at all with this tutorial! A vertical pattern in a knitted look, easily adjustable size make these socks a real eye-catcher! The socks are crocheted as one piece around the foot, vertically (like wrapping a piece of paper around the foot). The heel is crocheted onto the sock at the end. This creates a seam line on the inside of the sock that is very flat and does not interfere at all with walking. Sewing the socks together is also explained in the instructions.
These socks stretch very well in width and fit a foot circumference of 25 to 30 cm.
For the basic pattern I have created a video with the explanation. The video is not publicly available and can be viewed with the link. With this video, crocheting the basic pattern is much faster and easier.
Attention. The socks are crocheted partially (only toe and upper cuff) with the sl st. Crocheting with the sl st, inserted either in the back loops only or in the front loops only of the previous row, requires a little practice. Before you start crocheting the socks, practice crocheting with an old thick wool (wool scraps). After a few practices, crochet with sl st will work out very quickly. Otherwise, crochet very loosely, take the crochet hook 0.5 to 1 size larger than recommended for your wool.
