MATERIALS AND TOOLS

  • Main yarn – I used approximately 100 g of orange “Mohair Delicate” by Nako (40% mohair, 60% acrylic, 500m/100g) for the main parts, 30 g of black for the nose and the limbs, 300 cm/118 inches of white for the tip of the tail.
Tip: You can use any moderately fluffy yarn (wool, acrylic, etc). The thicker the yarn, the bigger your toy will be. See the gauge section. Make sure all yarns mentioned above crochet to the same gauge.
  • Small amount of white smooth yarn for the whites of the eyes – I used 200 cm/78.7 inches. Make sure this yarn crochet to the same gauge as your main yarn or it can be slightly thinner than your main yarn (800-900m in a 100g skein).
  • Matching crochet hook. I used 1.75 mm steel crochet hook.
  • A pair of ready-made eyes – I used 10 mm in diameter. You can use black half beads, beads or buttons instead.
  • Single core copper PVC electrical wire – I used wire approximately 400 cm / 157.5 inches long 1 mm in diameter.
  • Transparent glue, stuffing
  • Adhesive fabric tape approximately 1 cm wide to work up the wire ends (optional)
  • Fishing line for the whiskers
  • Any material for tinting (optional) – oil pastels, oil paints, pencils, etc.
For the vest and the Alpine hat (optional)
  • Black yarn that crochets to the same gauge as your main yarn – I used approximately 30 m for the vest and slightly more for the hat.
  • Crochet hook – I used 1.75 mm
  • Feather for the hat (optional)
