Scandinavian Winter Scarf „Hygge“ - Crochet Pattern

Product description

The Danish call it „Hygge“, we call it cozyness or snugness: Winter is far from over, and with this elegant scarf in a braided pattern you can feel like a modern snow queen when you're taking a cold walk outside.

Inside a hot cup of tea awaits with cookies and candles, outside this cozy scarf in the Scandinavian Style keeps you cozy and warm. Sounds snug!

So, what makes this scarf so special?
This special stitch pattern that almost looks woven is twice as thick as other patterns. It allows the air to be caught between the stitches and store warmth more effectively even in cold temperatures - keeping you nice and toasty even when it's freezing outside.

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

Difficulty Level:
easy, suitable for skilled beginners, step-by-step pictures and crochet chart included

Stitches/ techniques used:
Chain stitch, double crochet, treble crochet

Size Information

With the number of stitches indicated in this pattern, the scarf will turn out to be approx. 63 in / 160 cm long and 8 in / 20 cm wide.
However, these measurements are just an example – you’ll see that the pattern can easily be adjusted to any size you want.

Materials List

  • Ca. 500 g of any type of yarn – e.g. Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk (4 ply) (170m / 50g)
  • Crochet hook in matching size, e.g. 4.5 mm

Gauge:
For this pattern there is no predetermined gauge you need to follow. The stitch pattern can be adjusted to any length and width of the scarf and almost any yarn weight.
The most important thing is that you find a yarn you really love  As an orientation: the heavier the yarn, the thicker and warmer your scarf will be. However, if you use a lighter yarn, your scarf will turn out more delicate and light.

This English pattern is written in US Terms, but I have attached a conversion Chart for US/UK at the end.

Gute Anleitung, tolles Ergebnis

Der Schal ist nichts für ungeduldige Häkler. Ich als Feierabendhäklerin habe lange gebraucht. Allerdings ist er einfach umwerfend schön. Wie heißt es so schön, gut Ding will Weile haben.

      Hi Mildred,
could you please the download page again? There should be two separates files. The one named "scandinavian winter scarf" is the one you are looking for - that's the one in English.
If, for some reason, this file is not available for you, please let me know.

Have a wonderful holiday season and happy crochting!

I want to have my money refunded. The pattern I received was not the one in the picture. I already wrote to the author
and have not received a reply.

I'm very sorry you feel that way. Please note the message I sent to you. As I explained there, the pattern you received is the correct one and contains the complete instructions you need to work the scarf in the picture. There are not parts missing whatsoever, don't worry.
      All the best,
      Stefanie
