'Mareo' is a classic top-down raglan sweater with a bold, textured stitch pattern — the perfect match to my Marea shawl. Worked from the neckline down in a clever square-yoke construction, Mareo lets every size start with the exact same stitch count at the neck, so there's no guesswork: you simply work more or fewer rounds until you reach your size.
The sleeves are straight-cut and worked without decreases, so they're beginner-friendly and quick to finish — or go with the optional tapered-sleeve variation for a closer fit at the wrist.
Why you'll love it:
• Top-down raglan construction — try it on as you go
• All sizes cast on with the same stitch count
• Bold fan-and-post-stitch texture that looks impressive but repeats predictably
• Works beautifully in solid colours or gradient cakes
• Straight, no-decrease sleeves (with an optional tapering guide)
• Sizes 36/38 to 52/54
• Matches the Marea shawl for a coordinated set
Skill level: Confident beginner / intermediate — the stitch pattern looks intricate but is fully charted and written out round by round, with both US crochet terms and detailed charts for every sleeve-separation option.
The pattern includes a full written pattern and charts for every stage, including all sseven possible sleeve-separation rounds, so you can fit it exactly to your body and your yarn.
Sizes:
Sizes 36/38, 40/42, 44/46, 48/50, 52/54 (finished garment sizing — choose based on your desired fit and ease)
You'll need:
• 4-/5-strand cake-weight yarn (cotton, blend, merino, modal, or fluffy yarn all work — see the pattern for full yardage by size)
• A 3.5–4.5 mm hook (plus optional smaller hooks for tapered sleeves)
• Yarn needle, stitch markers, scissors
