Crochet Triangle Scarf

I am a very experienced crocheter but am also having trouble with the number of stitches not matching up. Have started over two times. Are there any revisions/corrections/explanations that I may have missed? Please email me if you can: sandynethery2002@yahoo.com. I would appreciate any help.

Purchased this pattern from etsy. Instructions set out clearly but I'm having problems. Making sure I have enough dc at end of rounds as set out in brackets but not having enough spaces to work in. Cant get past round 4. I'm also assuming chain at beginning of rounds is not counted as a stitch. It's getting very frustrating. Please help!
