Elephant shrew

Here you can find the pattern for an elephant shrew in english and german.
The pattern is a two in one pattern with a table to make two different elephant shrews. You can go along the pattern and make either an black and rufous elephant shrew or a golden-rumped one. Or you can go with your own creativity and make your own elephant shrew.

The pattern can also be done by beginners and lefthanders.
You need to know basic knowledge in chrocheting:

magic ring
single crochet
chain
slip stitch
half double crochet
increase
decrease

Around 16 cm long, 4 cm wide and 5 cm tall. (Be careful, if you’re using a crochet hook in a different size your elephant shrew will be bigger or smaller.)

• Yarn – just use the colors and size you prefer
  I used a crochet hook in 2.5 mm and the following Schachenmayr Catania:
  For the black and rufous elephant shrew:

  • 110 black
  • 388 terracotta / red
  • 426 fox / light red
  • 179 camel / light brown
    For the golden-rumped elephant shrew:
  • 249 gold
  • 162 coffee / dark brown
  • 254 taupe / grey brown

• Soft stuffing

• A pair of 6 mm safety eyes (if you choose another yarn, you will perhaps need different eyes)

• A needle and some yarn for sewing, sewing pins, scissors, stitch marker (optional)
