EGG COZY - CHICKEN
Crochet yourself some cute chickens for your breakfast table. When they are not on decorative duty they keep your boiled eggs warm and cozy.
Make them in matching colors, multicolored or in soft pastels – just the way you like. Great for using up some scrap yarn as well.
You can keep them around all year. It‘s always chicken time. :)
Info: The pupils are only glued on here. You can embroider them if you like to make the whole thing childproof. That‘s not part of the pattern though.
All steps are explained in detail in words and pictures, so this pattern is suitable for beginners as well.
This pattern contains 9 pages of crochet instructions and 12 pages of detailed step-by-step instructions.
Used techniques (US crochet terms): magic ring, chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, increases and (invisible) decreases, crocheting in front loops and back loops – explained.
The figures are crocheted in continuous rounds/spirals as well as back and forth in rows.
FORMAT
With 3.0 mm hook and DK yarn or two strands of sport weight yarn the chickens get to be 11 x 9 cm tall.
You need it smaller or bigger? No problem! Simply use lighter or heavier yarn. Standard sized eggs won‘t fit then anymore though.

1 pair of black 8 mm half beads (per chicken)
glue to attach the half beads
some colored pins

DK yarn / Sport weight yarn:
2 g / 2 g White for the eyes
1 g / 1 g for the beak
4 g / 5 g for the comb, wattles & toes
28 g / 39 g for head & wings
29 g / 40 g for body & tail
