Difficult and not for the novice beginner

The finished product is very cute and was adored by my grandchild. I found the instructions lacking certain clarity, which I am attributing to the author being outside the US and I understand how different countries can write to different expectations. The overall concept was figured out finally, but this made what should have been a slam dunk to make a rather tedious chore. But again, the final result was very cute.

Although I was able to complete this for my granddaughter, I found the instructions written in a rather obscure way leaving out “complete” directions of what to do in a number of places. I have a very extensive knowledge of crochet, and after I was to get into the mind of the author, I could see what she was trying to say but she does not follow the routine and most understood way of writing directions. The completed toy came out very nice. I had a rather difficult time to begin with, having to pull out work and do it over many times, until I was able to “read” the author’s mind. Not being sure where she is from, as I know outside the US directions are written differently—so that could be the reason for the lack of complete following along. I do believe this is a lovely little stuffed toy, but is not for a beginner at all.
