This is a step-by-step tutorial pattern for a hand crocheted double thickness pompom fluffy rug or chair seat cushion, which can be used as a rug or chair (stool, bench, armchair etc.) seat cover or decoration. It also can be used as a beautiful decorative cushion (with foam pad or cushion pad inside). The back of the rug (cushion) is one-colour (burgungy red).

The pattern can be made up with any yarn. The instructions have been tested on several types of yarn and thread. If you use a different yarn brand or type, use an average hook size between the smallest and largest on the yarn label. Variations and experimentations are unlimited!

The pattern includes detailed photos with instructions how to make it -- useful for beginners. This pattern uses only basic stitches, so beginners should have no problem with it. It is written in English using Standard US crochet terminology (with UK crochet terminology if necessary).

Materials you will need:
1) crochet yarn (I used Premium Acrylic DK yarn) burgundy red (approx. 500 g) as a basic colour, and many another types of yarn (mohair, boucle, brushed wool etc., fluffy yarn) any shades of red, dark red, pink, cream, light lilac, melange for pompoms. Total weight of the rug or chair cushion without pompoms is 261 g, with pompoms 825 g (the weight of each pompom is about 14 g); 2) crochet hook (I used hook size 7 mm); 3) pompom maker (I used pompom maker 7 cm diameter); 4) optional: 5 mm crochet hook for attaching pompoms to the base.

The approximate diameter of the crocheted rug or chair cushion is about 44 cm (about 17.3 inch), diameter of each pompom is about 8 cm (3.1 inch). The size of the chair seat cushion may vary depending on the type of yarn, hook size and how tightly you crochet.
