Scarf with Detachable Hood – Tunisian Crochet – Advanced

Christmas can certainly be a little playful – so why not give the classic Santa Claus look a Tunisian crochet twist?

This scarf with a detachable hood is part of my Santa Claus collection and combines rich Christmas red, a cosy white edging and the textured Tunisian honeycomb stitch to create a winter accessory that can be worn in several different ways.

Both the hood and the scarf are worked in the Tunisian honeycomb stitch. The beautiful textured surface is especially striking when worked with chunky yarn. The white edging, the cords and the small pom-poms then give the design its typical Santa Claus character.

What makes this project especially versatile is the detachable hood. It is attached to the scarf with snap fasteners, making the design flexible and easy to adapt to different ways of wearing it.

This gives you several options: you can wear the scarf on its own, the hood on its own, or both together. The scarf can also be beautifully combined with other designs from the Santa Claus collection, for example with a Santa Claus hat or, later on, with a matching headband.
