Large and small elephants in a long row are the motif of this narrow table runner. Its length is variable; you can crochet just one elephant or an unlimited number, as many as you need. One repeat is approximately 48 cm long.
The instructions include a chart with a repeating stitch pattern and two finishing options. You can determine the length of the table runner yourself and even end it mid-repeat, crocheting on the appropriate end piece. The small zigzag edge not only makes blocking easier, but also gives the table runner a very delicate look.
With these instructions, you can crochet your own table runner in your desired length.
This pattern is also suitable for beginners with some experience if you are willing to learn new things and have knowledge of single crochet stitches (sc/fM), double filet-crochet stitches (dc/dfc/Stb), treble-crochet stitches (trc/ dStb), slip stitches (sl st/KM), chain stitches (ch/LM).
The 12-page instructions explain the zigzag edge in detail with text and pictures for those who cannot read crochet charts.
Some experience with filet crochet is helpful, but not required. Hints and tips are included in the instructions.
Your table runner will be approximately 22 cm wide and the length is variable. A table runner including the beginning + 1 repeat + end will be approximately 81 cm long if you crochet with the specified yarn.
Approx. 56 x 22 cm – for 2 elephants with a small zigzag edge
Approx. 81 x 22 cm – for 3 elephants with a small zigzag edge
... Approx. 300 x 22 cm – for 484 x 38 squares with a small zigzag edge
If you use a heavier/thicker yarn, the table runner will be larger.
For each 1 meter of table runner, you will need approximately 100 g of size 15 crochet thread and a 1.25 mm (EU) crochet hook.
