Aralicious - Mosaic crochet blanket

This is a pattern for crocheting squares using the overlay mosaic technique.

From January 1st, 2026 to December 31st, 2026, two new square patterns will be released here each month.

The finished project will create a beautiful, large, cozy blanket made of mosaic squares.

The name "Aralicious" is purely fictional, inspired by the colors of two blue-and-yellow macaws.

All files will remain available for download here, so you can join the project later.

The instructions include some general tips and helpful links, as well as a crochet chart and written instructions.

You should be familiar with the magic ring, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet stitches.

It's difficult to give a precise size estimate, as everyone might crochet with different yarn.

Using Stylecraft Special DK (100g/295m) and a size 4 hook, my unstretched square measures approximately 25 cm x 25 cm.

The choice of yarn is entirely up to you.

You will need at least two colors per square.

For each square, I used approximately 35g of Stylecraft Special DK for the background and approximately 25g for the pattern.

In addition, you will need about two more balls for the border, one each for the background and the pattern.
