They say seahorses bring good luck. When I designed Maru, I was thinking of quiet summer evenings by the ocean: the hush of the waves, warm sand underfoot, and that feeling that everything is okay.
Maru carries that feeling inside. Soft, cuddly, and shaped to sit perfectly in your hands, he snuggles in as smoothly as a tiny wave rolling over your skin. His delicate fins and gentle curves invite you to hold him again and again— for comfort, for smiles, for bedtime, or just because.
Maybe Maru will become a first favorite toy for a new little human. Maybe he’ll remind you of your last holiday, hang by the bed, sit on a windowsill, or travel in a backpack—a small piece of the sea for every day. And because he’s quick to sew, he makes a wonderful personal gift: embroidered eyes for toddlers, safety eyes for older kids, in calm natural tones or cheerful brights—Maru adapts to your style.
Sewing means gifting your time. Maru was made for that.
The pattern already includes a 0.7 cm seam allowance, but the seam line is also marked so you can choose a different seam allowance if needed.
Difficulty: Easy
This tutorial is suitable for beginners; basic sewing skills (e.g., sewing curves) should be in place.
The finished seahorse is approximately 25 cm tall.
