The front post double crochet is a variation of the standard double crochet used to create raised textures such as ribbing, basketweave, and cables. Instead of inserting the hook into the top loops, the stitch is worked around the vertical body, or ‘post,’ of the stitch from the previous row. Approaching from the front pushes the stitch forward, adding structural dimension to the fabric.
