Walk the Line

The pattern of this shawl captivates with its geometric, clear lines.

This classic triangular cloth is knitted with garter stitches only. The effective pattern is created by lift stitches alternating with rows in garter stitch.

With using two different colours - one is the main colour, the other the contrasting colour - there are no limits to your creativity. You can choose colours tone on tone or strong contrasts, whatever you prefer. The result is an absolutely wonderful eyecatching shawl.

Needed skills:

  • Provisional cast on
  • Garter Tab cast on (there is only written description given in the pattern, no photo tutorial. Please look at YouTube or in the web for a tutorial)
  • Garter stitch
  • Slip stitches
  • Yarn over
  • Knit yarn over through the back loop
  • Garter stitch edge
  • Bind off in the I-Cord method (please also use the web or YouTube, if you don't know this yet)

This knitting pattern contains:

  • Written pattern
  • Photo tutorial for working the egde with two colours
  • Detailled and professional charts
  • Schematic

This pattern is suitable for:

  • ambitious beginner
  • advanced knitters
  • professional knitters

The size of the shawl is totally adjustable, so there is no size given.

Needed materials:

  • Per colour approx. 550 - 600 metres (approx. 546 - 656 yds) of wool (there is also more possible,
depending on how big you want your shawl). Use wool in sock yarn thickness or DK thickness. It is also possible to knit the scarf with 2 non twisted yarn cakes. Choose the number of threads you like best.
  • Circular knitting needle in the needle size recommended for your chosen wool
  • Stitch marker if necessary
  • If necessary, row counter
  • Sewing needle
  • Scissors
  • Karabiners if necessary
