Moon Pillow Sewing Pattern: Easy Instructions for Beginners

For me, the Moon Pillow is more than just a decorative element - it is a real all-rounder that has a place in every home. Whether in the nursery as a trusty cuddly companion or on the sofa as a stylish decorative pillow, it simply spreads coziness. A little insider tip from me: it also makes an excellent neck pillow! I am especially proud of the fact that this project is perfect for beginners. With very little effort, you can create a beautiful accessory that not only looks good, but is also functional. And what could be better than a handmade newborn gift that you can even embroider with a name to personalize it?

What I love about this project is the creative freedom I have in choosing the fabric. In my example, I used plush because it's so wonderfully soft. But other fabrics work as well, as long as they feel comfortable. If you choose a more sheer fabric, I recommend using a Non-woven Interlining. This will hold the filling in place and keep the pillow in shape. Even with stretchy fabrics, interlining helps keep everything in place and gives the pillow extra stability.

If the pillow will be used and washed regularly, make sure to use washable materials. That way it will look as good as the day you bought it. I am sure this pillow will quickly become a favorite piece in your home - and perhaps even a personal treasure.

  • Creative Fabric Choice: I love working with different materials - plush is my favorite, but other soft fabrics feel great too.
  • Easy to stabilize: Non-woven Interlining keeps the pillow nice and stable and the filling from shifting - perfect for sheer or stretchy fabrics.
  • Personalize: A great idea is to embroider the pillow with a name - making it a very personal gift that will be remembered.
  • Easy Care: Washable fabrics are a must if the pillow is used often. This will keep it nice and cozy for a long time.
  • Versatile use: As a decorative pillow, neck pillow or cuddly pillow, this moon pillow is a real all-rounder that can be used anywhere.

  • Illustrated step-by-step instructions: Detailed instructions with clear pictures for easy implementation.

  • A4 / Letter (US) Patterns Including Seam Allowances: Precise patterns that include all necessary seam allowances.
