Belgian Waffles

With its fluffy, waffle-like structure this baby blanket is reminiscent of the famous Belgian Waffles.
Whether it is a winter blanket made of soft merino wool or a summer blanket of cotton yarn...
with its clean, classic design it is a real eye-catcher.
It is knit in one piece in mosaic garter stitch.
There are no color changes within a row, no stranded knitting.
Simple slipped stitches create the mosaic color arrangement.
To bring out the best possible color effect, two contrasting colors are needed.
The large mosaic of the blanket is composed of 9 by 9 squares and 3 different square types.

Size information

The blanket measures about 33 by 33 inches (85 x 85 cm). Depending on yarn weight and needle size, the dimensions may vary.

Required materials

• 1 long circular needle (US size 2.5 / 3 mm, 40 or 47 inches long)
• 500g of wool or cotton yarn (6-ply/Sport), 250g in color 1 and 250g in color 2
Cotton yarn is well suited for a summer blanket and can usually be washed in the washing machine (sometimes up to 60°C), (merino) wool or blended wool yarns are warmer than cotton. Winter blankets made of wool are therefore warm and cozy.
Choose two contrasting colors to bring out the mosaic color effect.
• 1 darning needle for weaving in the yarn ends
