• Got a huge stash of leftover yarn from all the knitting projects you’ve already completed?
• Yarn scraps spilling out of every closet and drawer?
• And most importantly, you urgently need space for new yarn?
Here it is, the recipe for your leftover yarn issue:
The Serrated Tube Scarf!
• It uses up a large amount of yarn scraps (even small scraps).
• You can also use different yarn weights by cleverly combining them.
• It is easy to knit (no stitch or round counting).
The scarf is tubular, both ends are open and pointed and its sides are serrated.
It is worked in one piece from one tip to the other (almost completely) in the round. There are only a few backward rows to purl for the open ends.
You can change the yarn at any point (except for the points at the sides where the increases and decreases are made for the spikes). You could even knot yarn ends on the inside instead of weaving them in if you like.
There are no limits to your creativity when it comes to combining colors. Tone-on-tone, rainbow colors, brightly colored or even monochrome - anything goes! Arrange the stripes, thin or wide, as you like or as required by the yarn scraps.
The pattern has 5 pages and includes:
Any size - you decide how wide and how long the scarf will be.
• 1 circular knitting needle suitable for your yarn weight, 16 inches (40 cm) or 24 inches (60 cm) long, depending on the desired width of the scarf
• Leftover yarn / yarn scraps: Leftovers of the same yarn weight (sock yarn weight 4-ply or Sport or DK or even thicker) if you have enough. You can also combine different yarn weights by holding yarn together so as to approximately (no need to be meticulous here) keep the same yarn weight throughout the project:
Lace yarn + sock yarn weight => Sport
Sock yarn weight + sock yarn weight => DK
Sport + sock yarn weight => Aran/Worsted
• 2 different stitch markers
It is important that the stitch markers are different because you are not counting rounds or stitches here, you are using the stitch markers to guide you.
