Let´s crochet: Lady Linnet´s Hat

• A charming ladies hat with wide brim, wire-reinforced.
• The highlight and eyecatcher is a beautiful handmade lace from bobbin linen, in the style of the Victorian era, which is wrapped as a hatband around and knotted in the back.
The new hatband Africa, however, is laced as in the olden days.

Skills Required / What You'll Receive

With a purchase you will receive a comprehensive 16-pages PDF consisting of diagram, written instructions, small workshops and many helping photos that will guide you step by step through the pattern to a beautiful result.
The hatbands have stitch charts/diagrams and written instructions.
The hat itself is described only in detail in rounds.
The PDF is in landscape format.
If your printer does not print this format automatically, please set it manually!

Skill-Level: Easy-Intermediate, meaning you should have previous crochet experience and you should know how to crochet single crochet stitches in back loops only in rounds.
Optional: Color Change in hatband area - explained in pattern!
Not suitable for absolute crochet beginners.
The lace is a little more difficult, because it is worked with fine linen yarn.
However, it can be quite replaced by finished ribbons, or even omitted.
Terminology: EU/US-American terms

Size Information

The hat fits perfectly for head circumferences 57/58cm (22.4-22.8”) – US Hat Size 7⅛ - 7¼ which corresponds to size M/L.
However, it can definitely still be fitted for head circumferences of 56 (22”) - US 7 and 59cm (23”) – US 7⅜
Note the gauge!
The finished hatband is approx. 90cm (35.4”) long and 6cm (2.4”) wide.
The new hatband Africa is about 5cm (1.96") wide and is artfully laced in the back

Note: Other yarn, gauges and/or other crochet hooks can of course change the size and appearance of your hat and the decorative band accordingly.
Reinforced brim: the hat is reinforced with a wire in the brim, because of the linen material and the single crochet stitches, a fixed stiffness is not achieved. Optional: another way to achieve this would be with slip stitches in BLO.

Materials List

Yarn: (Advertising not commissioned) DROPS Bomull-Lin, combines the brittle texture of linen with the softness of cotton. Perfect for the Lady!
Usage: 3 skeins
Hatband: Goldschild Linen
Usage: 1 spool

Yarn (brands, yardages, colors - and poss. color changes) are please refer to the shopping list/crochet pattern of the purchased PDF; as well as other materials, such as hat wire. You can find German purchase recommendations on my blog.
Hooks: EU Nr.2 – 2,5 & 3,5 ( US ~B/1 – C/2 & E/4) - note the gauge!
